Allison Hubbard Colgin is the lead partner in VLP’s Employment Law practice. She brings extensive experience advising employers of all sizes on a broad spectrum of employment matters. Known for her practical, creative solutions, Allison blends deep legal insight with real-world business acumen to help clients navigate complex workplace challenges.
Allison advises employers and executives on a wide range of employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leave and accommodation requests, discipline and discharge, and compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws. She regularly assists clients with the development of employee handbooks, personnel policies, form offer letters, and employment contracts. Allison has also designed and delivered comprehensive employment law training programs for employees and managers, covering topics such as Preventing Workplace Harassment, Managing Within the Law, and ADA Compliance.
After graduating from UCLA School of Law, Allison began her legal career at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco and then moved to Silicon Valley where she joined the Employment Law Practice at Fenwick & West. Later, she became Intuit Inc.’s first in-house employment counsel, where she built and led the company’s employment law function. Following her move to Wyoming, Allison became a partner at a Jackson Hole law firm and subsequently accepted a secondment with Elastic, Inc. as Senior Employment Counsel, advising on U.S. and international employment matters. After her time at Elastic, she returned to private practice and continues to represent employers across all aspects of employment law. In 2022, Allison completed mediation certification through the Bar Association of San Francisco and is available to mediate a variety of disputes, including workplace conflicts.
In her free time, Allison enjoys hiking in the mountains with her dog, Rosie, skiing, traveling, playing pickleball, and rarely missing her daily Wordle.
