Jeff Steele

Jeff represents emerging growth companies from formation to exit and all stages in between, including financing transactions from pre-seed SAFE and convertible note financings, through Seed and early stage rounds to growth rounds. Jeff also has substantial experience representing emerging growth companies, investors and founders and members of management in M&A transactions, including mergers, stock sales and asset sales with private and public buyers. In between such transaction representation, Jeff regularly assists emerging growth clients with general corporate representation, including representation in connection with commercial contracts, strategic partnerships and other collaborative and revenue generating arrangements and with employee equity matters. In addition to emerging company representation, Jeff regularly represents angel and venture capital investors in financing matters, and entrepreneurs and entrepreneur groups at the earliest stages of company formation.

Prior to joining VLP, Jeff was a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP in their Salt Lake City office and a partner at Holland & Hart LLP, also in their Salt Lake City office. Prior to that, he practiced in the Boston, Massachusetts, area as a partner in a boutique law firm that represented emerging growth technology companies and venture capital funds.

Jeff is a graduate of the Cornell Law School. Outside of work, Jeff enjoys skiing in the Wasatch, cycling and, although he recently took it up and lacks any proficiency at it, surfing.
