Kurt T. Mulville

From 1990 to 2012, he practiced law with the preeminent Los Angeles firm Lyon & Lyon and was a partner there from 1997-2012, principally litigating patent disputes in genetic engineering, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. From 2002 to 2013, he was a partner at Orrick Herington & Sutcliffe continuing his practice in srtategic patent procurement, extensive litigation in state court trade secret matters, federal district court patent cases, Federal Circuit appeals, ITC proceedings, and ex parte and inter partes matters at the USPTO. environemt. He is also frequently retained to render opinionsand perform to perform intellectual property due diligence analyses for venture capital, private equity, and large institutional investments, debt instruments and M&A. Kurt also has a unique practice forming and managing corporate structures using IP ownership and licensing for tax and operational advantages, and organizing cooperative entities among academic and industry groups to protect and maximize the value of IP rights.

From 1985 to 1987, Kurt conducted pharmaceutical research and development at McGaw laboratories, Irvine, CA, where he developed novel chemical processes for the manufacture and production of large volume intravenous solutions used for total parenteral nutrition (TPN). He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1990, and from 1989-1990 was Editor in Chief of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. More recently, Kurt has written his own grant submissions in collaboration with prominernt academic and industry scientists for pharmaceutical intervention of the NLRP3 inflammatory cascade in COVID, progressive insulin resistance, and congestive heart failure.
