Cary Berger is a partner in the firm’s technology transactions group representing public and private companies and their investors in establishing, growing and operating their businesses. Cary provides strategic advice and counseling to companies and their founders, executives, senior management and boards of directors of companies at all stages of their growth. He brings insights from decades of experience as a C-level legal, finance and operations executive in both small and large, private and public companies.

Cary’s practice includes work with digital media businesses and advanced technology companies where intellectual property strategy and commercialization frameworks are central to enterprise value.
Cary has served as in-house counsel for both venture-backed startups and Fortune 500 public companies. He was General Counsel of Maker Studios, a pioneering digital media company acquired by The Walt Disney Company, and has led legal strategy within organizations navigating rapid growth and complex operational environments. Cary began his career at Irell & Manella LLP, where he was a partner.
Cary is well established in the Southern California business community, having served on the board of American Corporate Counsel, the editorial board of Los Angeles Lawyer and several nonprofit boards.

Cary earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he was Associate Managing Editor of the Stanford Law Review, and his B.A. in Philosophy-Economics from Columbia University. He lives in Southern California with his wife Lauren and their two daughters, and outside the office you will often find him attending or performing at live music events, on a ski slope or bicycle or traveling.
